Online real estate investment marketplace Fundrise has announced the expansion of its platform to the UK, Canada and Australia.
The move will give investors the chance to invest in crowdfunded property in 25 markets across the U.S.
Founded in 2012 Fundrise currently has a user base of more than 60,000 investors and looks set for rapid expansion as investors continue to see the U.S. property market as a safe harbour during trying economic times.
Dan Miller, co-founder and president of Fundrise, said: “Until now, there has been a lack of investment opportunities for savvy investors who understand the yield and risk mitigation that investing in U.S. real estate can bring.
“Since we launched Fundrise more than three years ago, we’ve received thousands of requests from international investors, looking for ways to diversify into U.S. real estate. This is the first step in our effort to expand more broadly.”
CEO and fellow co-founder Ben Miller added: “Adding international investors increases the depth of our capital base, which in turn increases the volume, consistency, and quality of investments that we are able to produce.
“This is an overall benefit to all our users – allowing us to bring more high-quality investment opportunities, more often.”
Since its founding, Fundrise has given thousands of individual investors an opportunity to invest in real estate, including landmark projects such as 3 World Trade Center in Manhattan and projects in Brooklyn, Denver, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City and Seattle.
